The term "Electronic Commerce" or "E-commerce" is used to describe electronic business over the Internet. Ecommerce has been described as the new economic paradigm. By 2002, total ecommerce transactions are projected to exceed over $1 trillion dollars annually. A direct, real-time, producer to consumer virtual marketplace will dominate the national and global economies. Hundreds of thousands of new and agile companies will emerge from around the globe. Opportunity for prosperity will abound for those prepared to take advantage of it.

The implications for businesses, both large and small, are clear. Ecommerce means advertising, selling and supporting products and services using a Web Store around the clock for customers worldwide. The Web Store, or store that works while you sleep, is not geographically or politically restricted. It has global reach. Get your Web Store working for you today in several simple steps.

There are a number of ways with varying levels of sophistication to conduct ecommerce. Through our affiliated companies, we control the entire process of provisioning a virtual store from end-to-end to include the real-time transaction gateway

Ecommerce Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I get started with the Ecommerce Solution?
Answer: Contract with WEB 2001 to build it.

Q: How much is the application fee through MCPS Partner for an Internet Merchant Account?
Answer: $150.00

Q: If I have my own merchant account will it work with WEB 2001's Gateway?
Answer: No, only a MCPS partner merchant account will work with WEB 2001's Gateway.

Q: What is the minimum amount the merchant account will cost each month?
Answer: $35.00. If you have no sales during a month, you pay a $25.00 Minimum Transaction Charge and a $10.00 Monthly Customer Service Fee. If you make sales during the month (let's use $1500.00 as an example), you will pay $46.75.

    Example: 10 sales x 150.00 per sale = 1500.00 x 2.35% + .30 per transaction = 35.25 ($11.75 over the $25 Minimum Transaction Charge). The cost for this example month's sales would be $38.25 (36.75 Transaction Charge + 10.00 Monthly Customer Service Fee = $48.25).
Note: This fee will be separate to your monthly hosting/support fees.
Q: Can retailers not process an order if they think the order is invalid?
Answer: If you are using it without the transaction server and gateway, the following applies. When the orders come into the retailer's mailbox, the retailer views the order and makes a decision whether to process or delete the order. If you are using the transaction server and gateway, the order is passed through the gateway for authorization and the capture and transfer of funds to your merchant account. There is extensive fraud protection built in to the transaction server and gateway.

Q: When my customers go to the checkout what happens to their order from there?
Answer: When they go to the check out and you are using the transaction server and gateway, their order will be transferred to the MCPS secure server. Once there, the customer will input their billing information for processing, verification and payment.

Q: Does this allow for sales tax?
Answer: It does. Your shop can be configured to automatically add sales tax to orders placed from a given state. Please select the state where you wish to charge sales tax, and enter current tax rate. You may select no tax by leaving the state blank or by setting the tax rate to zero. You may also specify individual items in your inventory that are not subject to sales tax.

Q: What if I have problems with my email program and encrypted messages?
Answer: Go to http://search.nai.com/mediasearch/ and do a search for plugin's and download the plugin for your email program.

Q: What if the different shipping costs are not available in the shipping options?
Answer: You have the ability to provision up to 11 types of shipping options.

Q: What happens to the order after it is submitted?
